WELCOME TO THE SCIENCE LAB
It is my pleasure to welcome you to The Madeleine Science Lab—a place where all students are invited to explore the wonders of science, the natural world and the magnificence of God’s creations. The Madeleine Science Lab emphasizes hands-on activities and experiments to help students master the important scientific concepts they need to be successful.
We also emphasize fun! All students, kindergartener through eighth grader, are welcome to come to the lab and play with the science toys or visit with the animals, including the tarantula (Charlotte), and of course my cockatiel, Albert.
My Science Philosophy
I believe the best science is learned by doing things. Good science, like life, is active, messy, absolutely fascinating, and just a little bit chaotic. Students can expect to get their hands dirty in The Madeleine Science Lab. They will design their own experiments, build things, go on field trips, mix chemicals, observe animals and grow plants as a part of their science experience. .
Meet Your Science Teacher
I am teaching middle school science (6 – 8 grade) and sections of 6th and 8th grade math. I am also the science resource for the K – 5 teachers and will be helping them with labs and activities. This is my tenth year of teaching and my second year at The Madeleine. Previously, I have taught middle school science at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Milwaukie, and middle school science and math at Valley Catholic. A few years after graduating from Lewis and Clark College, I earned my Masters in Teaching (with an emphasis in secondary science education) from George Fox University. In my spare time I enjoy reading mystery novels and quilting. Please stop by and say hello to me and Albert!
