Volunteers make the world go 'round!
All Madeleine families are required to donate at least 10 hours of volunteer hours to the school auction. Sounds daunting, but it’s easier than you think and pretty fun besides. Below is a punch list of volunteer jobs to choose from; there’s one for everyone. SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER
- Catalog: Put those creative writing skills to use, and write catalog descriptions for oral and selected silent auction items.
- Community, Parish and Corporate Procurement: Contact local businesses, parishioners and corporations to solicit donations of auction items
- Beverages**: Organize and serve beverages the night of the event.
- Silent Auction**: Organize and prepare all items for display. Merchandise silent auction tables or manage silent auction tables during night of the event.
- Wall of wine**: Assist in procurement, set-up and/or work night of the event.
- Gift Certificates: Create gift certificates for the donations that need one.
** please note - these jobs include working the night of the auction!
WEEK BEFORE THE AUCTION
- Bid sheets: Create bid sheets to be used in the silent auction.
DAY BEFORE & DAY OF AUCTION
- Auction set up: Transform the Parish Hall and Gym into the Madopoly auction event by setting up banquet tables, silent auction tables, etc.
- Decorations: Assist in set-up and installation of decorations. This job also includes some decoration building parties prior to the event.
- Kitchen Staff /Food Prep: Master your culinary prep skills by helping prep the assorted items on the menu.
NIGHT OF AUCTION
- Sales: Sell a “Chance” at a great prize, sell keys to out “Community Chest” during the auction.
- Bank: Register auction guests before the event, record auction purchases into the database. Check out guests after the event. Training session to be coordinated by Bank Sub-Chair.
- Host & Hostess: Greet guests at the door and provide assistance in navigating the event. Help as needed during the event.
- Kitchen: Kitchen staff — assist night of the event and clean up afterward.
- Security: Assist guests with carrying purchases to their vehicles upon request. Help with any security needs that might arise.
- Wait Staff: Serve meals and beverages at the event.
DAY AFTER AUCTION
- Clean up: Post-event cleanup.
- Post-auction: Help any people who did not pick up their auction booty
